Senior Environmental Scientist
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Environmental Scientist to join our expanding environmental team in Sligo, Ireland.
Key Responsibilities:
* Working with the existing Environmental Team on ecological and environmental aspects of diverse projects including renewable energy, infrastructure, and private commercial projects.
* Coordinating, supervising, and mentoring other Environmental Scientists (in-house staff and external sub-contractors) work to ensure safe and efficient delivery of work on time and within budget.
* Managing work schedules/resourcing, providing assistance, guidance, and technical review of other team members work, and providing on-the-job training and feedback to other staff.
* Providing technical ecological advice and recommendations to clients (including face-to-face meetings) where risks may be posed to a project timescale or delivery, as well as liaising with project managers and other project stakeholders including statutory bodies.
* Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry changes, best practices, guidelines, legislation, and policy, and providing leadership on the same to other staff members.
Person Specification:
* Relevant third-level degree (Level 8 or higher).
* A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience within the field of ecological consultancy.
* Knowledge of relevant wildlife policy and legislation, and its real-world application.
* Comfortable working within water bodies to carry out aquatic surveys, when appropriate and safe to do so.
* Competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
* ArcGIS mapping skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Requirements:
* Familiarity with UK and European environmental legislation and policy.
* A strong understanding of ecological principles and concepts.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
