Job Description:
The Plant Supplier Quality Engineer plays a pivotal role in driving supplier process and systemic quality improvements. This position ensures the effective execution of Advanced Product Quality Planning through the receipt, release, and delivery of components to the manufacturing line.
This role is also crucial in maintaining customer satisfaction by leading containment and corrective action activities with suppliers to prevent quality non-conformances and enhance the entire supply chain. Furthermore, this position partners with procurement to assess potential new suppliers as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plans, organizes, and performs all supplier quality-related activities to deliver on-time PPAP and flawless launch for responsible components.
* Liaises with project teams related to incoming quality issues, CAPA, cost reduction, and quality system excellence, driving process and systemic quality improvements.
* Drives supplier quality improvement work with suppliers and requests support from the Supplier Development group when major or recurring supplier quality needs arise.
* Assists suppliers in quality assurance processes and procedures to facilitate continuous improvement of supplier and product performance.
* Conducts source qualification by performing quality and manufacturing system surveys and special process surveys, taking initial action to protect the plant from non-conforming parts from suppliers.
* Coordinates containment activities, initiates controls, and safeguards replacement deliveries when necessary.
* Initiates, verifies, evaluates, and ensures timely closure of supplier CAPAs as required to improve quality and reduce operation interruptions.
* Reduces quality nonconformities, enhancing quality metrics.
* Prepares, distributes, and communicates supplier quality data/information to various stakeholders, including PPM data for tracking and improvement.
* Serves as the Voice of the Customer within the organization regarding supplier quality issues.
Qualification:
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
* 6 years of experience in various functions of quality, manufacturing, and customer relationship management.
* Ability to travel up to 30% (domestic and international). Six Sigma Green belt certification is desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
* A deep understanding and ability to apply Advanced Quality Planning processes and Quality Systems.
* Understanding and application of quality models and theories, advanced statistical techniques, problem-solving and prevention, project management and planning tools, process management and improvement tools, lean methodology, and visual management.
* In-depth knowledge of quality systems, including alignment with the Enterprise's broader mission.
* Team-oriented and proactive change agent with a true hands-on and collaborative approach to implementing and improving supplier quality.
* A confident professional able to proactively resolve issues.
* Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work on multiple priorities at once.
