We are seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join our client's dynamic manufacturing team in Galway. In this key role, you will support both day-to-day operations and the successful launch of new products. Your focus will be on driving process excellence, optimizing manufacturing systems, and ensuring the seamless integration of new technologies within a cellular manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering support to manufacturing cells, ensuring efficient operations and the timely introduction of new products.
- Lead process development initiatives, including tool and fixture design, CNC programming, and continuous improvement activities.
- Conduct feasibility assessments to evaluate product costs, capital investment needs, and capacity planning for make vs. buy decisions.
- Define and implement robust manufacturing processes that meet strict performance and quality standards.
- Generate and maintain preliminary bills of materials (BOMs) and manufacturing routers.
- Develop processes across a variety of manufacturing applications including machining, finishing, forging, casting, thermal treatments, and moulding.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on project timelines and drive deliverables.
- Prepare and manage project budgets aligned with business objectives.
- Mentor junior engineers and share technical expertise across the team.
- Provide clear, concise communication to management and project stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
- Proven experience in developing manufacturing processes for new product introductions, ideally in a regulated industry like medical devices.
- Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), CNC programming, CAD systems, and 3D modeling (preferably Unigraphics/NX).
- Strong understanding of standard operating procedures (SOPs), drafting standards, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Demonstrated ability to balance design intent, manufacturing efficiency, and customer requirements.
- Effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills; able to engage technical and non-technical audiences.
- A track record of mentoring and guiding less experienced engineers.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in manufacturing process development or a combination of relevant education and hands-on experience.
