Job Description
To collect, collate, manage and disseminate robust spatial data sets to facilitate biodiversity initiatives (local, national and international) as a temporary Full-time CEDar Data Support Officer for six months, with the possibility of review.
Duties:
* Provide a customer-focused Record Centre for Northern Ireland special data sets.
* Support the Environmental Recording Community to ensure a flow of validated, fit-for-purpose data.
* Manage and maintain data sets.
* Manage and maintain existing and new web products for customers.
* Enable access to data (and information) by various audiences.
* Assist, as required, with current web-based and social media requirements.
Requirements:
* A degree or equivalent qualification in Geography, Science (Botany, Zoology, Geology), Environmental Science, or related subject(s).
* At least six months' experience of database applications, including working with large spreadsheets, validating and verifying data sets, and knowledge of spatial referencing systems.
* Competence in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and GIS applications.
* R programming experience.
* The ability to interpret written and numerical information.
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
Desirable Qualifications:
* A proven interest in natural history.
* Knowledge of biological recording.
* Direct experience of verification of environmental records of any species group.
