Position Title: EHS Officer
Location: Client Site
Reporting to: HSEQ Manager
Overall Purpose of the Job:
The EHS Specialist will support the company's EHS management system under the supervision of the HSEQ Manager. This role requires providing technical expertise on environmental, health, and safety systems to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Support the HSEQ Manager in maintaining a safe working environment.
* Conduct work activities in accordance with Apleona's EHS management system.
* Provide assistance to ensure all activities align with company procedures and protocols.
* Maintain and enhance customer confidence through effective implementation of EHS management systems.
* Conduct risk assessments for work activities and provide guidance to managers on completing risk assessments.
* Develop method statements for tasks and review contractor method statements for accuracy.
* Conduct audits to ensure compliance with company EHS policies and legislation.
* Promote the dynamic risk assessment program, '5 Seconds for Myself,' among employees.
* Monitor near-miss incidents, conduct accident investigations, and implement corrective actions.
* Develop and deliver training programs to prevent accidents and promote workplace safety.
* Provide EHS support for projects and offer guidance on waste management practices.
* Foster sustainability within the organization.
Person Specification:
* A positive approach to EHS is essential, influencing how managers interpret EHS policies and promoting a culture of workplace safety.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
* The ability to work independently is crucial.
* A hands-on approach to EHS is necessary for this role.
Qualifications and Experience:
* NFQ Level 8 qualification in EHS is mandatory.
* A minimum of 3 years' experience, preferably in a life science facility, is required.
* IOSH membership is desirable.
* Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor qualification is also desirable.
* Knowledge of Irish EHS regulations, guidelines, and best practices is essential.
