Our client, a global leader in the medical device industry, is seeking a temporary Product Development Engineer to join our team in Galway, for a period of 4 months because of a parental leave cover. Summary of the role
As Product Development Engineer you will support product development of medical devices from feasibility through to market introduction on a contract basis for our customers. You are a self-motivated individual who is excited by the prospect of supporting projects in a dynamic environment to support business growth. This is an exciting role working with a variety of customers from start-up to multi-nationals in a wide range of clinical spaces. Role and Responsibilities
1. Development of balloon catheters, braided shafts and/or delivery systems for use in medical procedures to meet customer needs from initial prototype to commercialisation.
2. Development of effective, reliable, and efficient processes for medical device manufacturing to consistently deliver products meeting customer, quality and regulatory standards.
3. Documentation of design and development activities in adherence to product development process deliverables supporting development from prototyping through to product commercialisation.
4. Design, develop, analyze, troubleshoot, and provide technical support during product development, validations, and commercialisation activities.
5. Identify, escalate and mitigate technical and project risks throughout the product development process.
Skills and Qualifications
1. Experience with product development process (PDP), medical device design and regulation is essential.
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in the medical device industry, ideally with catheter, braided shaft, or delivery system experience.
3. Level 8 Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Biotechnology programs.
4. Proven record in innovative design and/or product development.
5. Proven record in solving problems with innovative, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
6. Strong interpersonal, planning, and communication skills.
