The Scoop on the Role:
We’re currently seeking a Data Protection Counsel to join our Dublin office. In this role, you'll work closely with our GRC and HRIS team to ensure that privacy and data protection are prioritised across all our business processes involving personal data of customers, partners, and employees. Your main responsibility will be to ensure that Grouper adheres to all relevant data protection laws, with a particular focus on GDPR Compliance, Data Governance Act, AI Act and other relevant compliance requirements.

Privacy by Design:
Ensure data protection requirements are integrated into Grouper’s operations, acting as the privacy gatekeeper throughout all stages.
Provide technical and privacy advisory support to the business, ensuring accurate product, process, and technical implementations.
Identify business and technical requirements arising from new and evolving privacy laws and regulations.
Legal Compliance:
Assist in maintaining and updating all data protection policies, standards, and procedures.
Provide support to corporate teams such as HR, Marketing, Finance, and Legal where data protection advice/input is required.
Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments and Transfer Impact Assessments.
Ensure compliance with breach reporting requirements.
Conduct regular training and knowledge transfer sessions for all Grouper staff.
Design of New Privacy-Enhancing Technologies:
Collaborate with the Product, Data Science, and Engineering teams to identify opportunities and oversee the design and development of new customer products enabling responsible innovation with data.

Legal or Data Protection Background: Possess a background in legal or data protection fields.
IAPP/ACOI Data Protection Qualification: Hold a recognised data protection qualification from IAPP or ACOI.
InfoSec Qualification: InfoSec qualification would be beneficial.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Time Management and Organisation: Superior time management, planning, and organisational skills.
Experience with GRC and HRIS: Experience with governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC) as well as HR information systems (HRIS) and other SaaS-based technologies.
Self-Starter: Motivated self-starter with the ability to excel at multi-tasking in a start-up environment.
Analytical Skills: Superior analytical skills with the ability to frame complex issues and problems.
Technical Qualification: Technical qualification in computers, analytics, big data, or privacy engineering highly desirable.
