Our Law Department provides comprehensive legal services and advice to the County Council in the entire area of local government law, including:
* Property Based Conveyancing Services: buying, selling, and letting of residential and commercial properties, acquisition of lands required for public infrastructure, and other purposes associated with the functions of the Local Authority
* Enforcement of regulatory codes: Control of Dogs, Litter, Waste Management, Dangerous Structures, Derelict Sites, Standards in Rented Accommodation, and Planning Enforcement
* Advocacy Services: Judicial Review, Circuit, and High Court proceedings, file preparation, and advocacy services for debt collection and financial recovery
The Executive Solicitor will be required to work under the supervision and direction of the Law Agent and will also be required to work independently as circumstances demand. The office is whole-time, permanent, and pensionable.
A panel will be formed to fill permanent and temporary vacancies. Persons employed will be required to work in any location within the South Dublin administrative area.
The successful candidate's normal hours of work will be 35 hours per week. The Council reserves the right to alter your hours of work from time to time.
Annual leave entitlement for this position is 30 days.
Candidates must meet the following essential qualifications:
* Have been admitted and enrolled as a Solicitor in the State
* Have at least three years satisfactory experience as a Solicitor, including adequate experience of conveyancing and court work, after admission and enrolment as a Solicitor
* Possess a high standard of professional training and experience
Candidates are requested to give an example of a situation which highlights the behaviour, skills, and attitude that underpin effective performance in areas such as management and change, delivering results, performance through people, personal effectiveness, and local government knowledge and understanding.
The duties include, but are not limited to, the provision and management of legal services responsive to the changing requirements of client departments within South Dublin County Council.
