The Role:
1. We are seeking an individual to implement a robust health and safety management system that complements our business and satisfies operational and legislative requirements.
2. The selected candidate will establish a proactive approach, promote a positive safety culture, and ensure all employees and external visitors are compliant with H&S policies and practices through internal communication and training.
3. They will advise and support each site management team in developing and delivering H&S plans, depending on needs and requirements.
4. The primary objective is to minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents, and injuries.
5. The Health & Safety Officer will undertake risk assessments and continuously review them to ensure they remain relevant to our procedures and any control measures are actioned.
6. They will develop safe working procedures and communicate with relevant employees.
7. The role involves maintaining the COSHH register in accordance with legislative requirements, providing relevant information, instruction, and training to employees.
8. The selected candidate will compile site audits/inspections and ensure any concerns are highlighted to management and outcomes are actioned.
9. They will implement a non-compliance register and review it with management on a frequent basis.
10. The Health & Safety Officer will investigate all accidents, near misses, non-compliance occurrences, and complete future preventative actions.
11. They will complete fire safety procedures, including fire drills and fire alarm testing.
12. The selected candidate will maintain up-to-date knowledge of new legislation and HSE regulations and guidance.
13. Other relevant responsibilities may be assigned as required.
Essential Criteria:
1. Prior experience in a similar role is essential.
2. A NEBOSH qualification or equivalent is required.
3. This is a multi-site role, and travel between sites is required, so a full driving license is essential.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Experience within the engineering/manufacturing sector would be advantageous.
2. A Train the Trainer qualification would be beneficial.
