Main Purpose Of Role
Murphy is recruiting a Senior People Business Partner on 1-year fixed term contract to cover maternity leave in Newbridge, Co. Kildare. Reporting to the Ireland Managing Director and Group People Director as part of the People Leadership Team, the successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure performance across Ireland through exemplary people & organisational practices. You will take the lead and drive the delivery of the people strategy in support of “Murphy at 75”.
Role Duties
A day in the life of a Senior People Business Partner at Murphy
1. Lead the People Function for Ireland and manage the People Team consisting of ER, Recruitment, Learning & Development.
2. Partner with Projects to fully understand their key business performance issues, objectives and drivers, and associated people requirements for both the current and future business challenges.
3. Responsible for the planning, design and evaluation of people related initiatives that support the immediate and future organisational strategic goals and being flexible enough to cope with changes in the organisation as and when they occur.
4. Working closely with Managing Director, Operational Directors and Business Unit Functional leads to increase the capability within their teams – consulting with the senior leadership to identify succession gaps within the business unit and address these to support the delivery of long term business objectives.
5. Collaboratively work to develop innovative, timely and cost-effective best practice solutions that can be implemented across the function as a whole. This should include People Policies, recruitment and selection practices, retention approaches, performance management, absence management etc.
6. Analyse data and present at the Monthly board meeting.
7. Challenge & support leaders across functions to align behaviours/attitude to the Murphy at 75 strategy.
8. Manage and work with the People Business Advisor in order to enable a knowledgeable and swift response to all complex ER issues.
9. Management of the people aspect of restructures, ensuring redeployment and redundancy are run according to policy and best practice and completed within timescales, budget and legislation. Provide advice to Directors as appropriate.
10. Support the business unit and wider business to meet employee engagement targets and enhance Investors in People accreditation.
11. Occasional travel to the UK is required (approx. 4 times a year), and visits to our sites across Ireland is also required.
Qualifications & Skills
1. Significant HR management experience with a proven track record in developing and implementing innovative people management solutions at an operational, tactical, and strategic level.
2. Strong line management experience.
3. Proven ability to support improvements in employee engagement with a dual workforce.
4. Proven experience and comprehensive track record of managing employee relations cases.
5. First-hand exposure of HR in a commercially oriented business within the construction/civil-engineering sector (desirable).
6. Full driving licence with flexibility and willingness to travel occasionally.
