Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialist
Location: Kildare, Ireland
Reporting To: Planning Programme Manager
PE Global is currently recruiting for an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Specialist on behalf of our client, a leader in renewable energy infrastructure. This is a permanent, full-time role based in Kildare.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs) and Appropriate Assessments (AAs) for a range of renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the EIA process for large-scale renewable energy projects, including the delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs) and Appropriate Assessment/Natura Impact Statements (AA/NIS).
* Provide specialist environmental expertise to support the Planning Team and inform Business Unit strategies, ensuring compliance with planning and environmental regulations.
* Monitor and interpret changes in environmental and planning legislation, national policies, and local authority development plans to optimize project outcomes.
* Collaborate with the Stakeholder and Advocacy Team to develop effective communication and consultation strategies with communities, statutory bodies, and other stakeholders.
* Prepare detailed specifications for third-party service providers, and assist the procurement team throughout the tendering and selection process.
* Ensure all activities under your responsibility comply with Health & Safety, Environmental policies, and all relevant EU and national statutory requirements.
* Provide guidance and mentoring to junior staff, particularly in relation to the EIA and AA/NIS processes.
Requirements:
* Honours Degree (NFQ Level 8) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
* A Postgraduate Qualification (NFQ Level 9) in a relevant discipline (e.g., Environmental Science, Engineering, Planning Law) is desirable but not essential.
* Minimum 5 years of experience leading the preparation of EIARs and AA/NIS for large-scale infrastructure projects.
* Proven ability to lead the delivery of EIA and AA/NIS documentation and manage multidisciplinary teams.
* In-depth knowledge of the Irish EIA process and planning legislation.
* Experience in renewable energy infrastructure or Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) projects is highly desirable.
* Technical expertise in a related field such as ecology, noise, or air quality is advantageous but not essential.
