Staff Grade (Grade II) Clinical or Counselling Psychologist – Wheatfield Prison, Irish Prison Service
Cpl Healthcare, in partnership with the Irish Prison Service, is recruiting a locum Psychologist to work as part of the psychology team in Wheatfield prison.
The prison, located in West Dublin, is a closed, medium-security facility for adult males.
This opportunity involves working with a well-structured psychology team, alongside other multidisciplinary team members, to support clients with diverse mental health and criminogenic needs. The roles offer excellent training and development opportunities, as well as potential permanent employment.
Prison-based Psychologists maintain regular contact with community agencies involved in supporting individuals leaving custody and their families and carers. In some cases, IPS Psychologists provide time-limited community interventions to facilitate a client's transition from custody to community.
The Service plays a crucial role in consulting, training, and educating the broader IPS organisation and its partners, including Criminal Justice Agency partners, as required.
Essential Qualifications and Competencies:
Applicants must:
* Be eligible for graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
* (i) Hold a postgraduate professional qualification in Clinical Psychology recognised by PSI.
* (ii) Alternatively, hold a postgraduate professional qualification in Counselling Psychology recognised by PSI.
Applicants with qualifications obtained outside of Ireland must obtain a statement of equivalence in Clinical or Counselling Psychology from the Department of Health.
Desirable Requirements:
* Experience in addressing emotional, mental health, and/or offence-related difficulties with a forensic or inpatient population.
* Experience of providing consultation, education, guidance, and support to multidisciplinary colleagues.
* Further therapeutic or research qualifications.
