Job Title: Librarian Permanent, Part Time
Mental Health Commission is delighted to be partnering with the Mental Health Commission in the recruitment of a Librarian on a Permanent, Part Time basis.
The Organisation
The MHC is an independent statutory body established in 2002 under the provisions of the Mental Health Acts 2001-2018. The principal functions of the MHC are to promote, encourage and foster the establishment and maintenance of high standards and good practices in the delivery of mental health services.
The Role
The Librarian is an important role in the Mental Health Commission providing key support in relation to information management, research support, management of databases and subscriptions, archival work and supporting policy development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Managing library resources (electronic databases, journals, and books)
* Updating the library policies and procedures as required
* Tracking of developments and providing updates in relevant areas of law to include, mental health, capacity, adult protection in cross border situations
* Promoting library resources via the library newsletter, SharePoint, email, and other means
* Providing support to all Divisions with enquiries and obtaining resources
* Delivering information and learning skills sessions for staff
* Managing the purchasing of key resources
* Cataloguing information
* Keeping up to date with relevant professional developments in the library sector
* Organising events for Library Ireland Week to highlight the library service
* Engaging with library users, e.g. through satisfaction surveys and participation in in-house events
* Providing monthly and quarterly reports to relevant departments including a monthly case law bulletin and quarterly library research newsletter
* Providing ongoing cost projection of journals and databases
* Participating in professional groups or networks
* Maintaining good relationships with colleagues, with external bodies and suppliers; and Any other activities as may be specified in writing by the Commission
Essential Requirements:
* Relevant Academic or Professional Qualification
* Proven track record of managing library services
* Experience using Microsoft Office packages
* The requisite competencies to carry out the role as outlined below
