Post Doctoral Researcher in Electrical Engineering with Specialisation in Power Electronics and Control
The intelligent Grid (iG) research team at the International Energy Research Centre (IERC), Tyndall National Institute, University College Cork, invites applications for Post-Doctoral Researchers in Electrical Engineering with a specialisation in Power Electronics and Control.
Role Summary:
* Support the delivery of IERC projects.
* Contribute to the bid and proposal activity for new funding.
* Engage in internal and external facing activities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead technical tasks and work packages on IERC projects.
* Provide administrative assistance for project coordination.
* Develop proposals and applications for new projects.
* Assist in managing and delivering projects accelerating energy sector decarbonisation.
* Liaise with industry and research partners.
* Develop research interests and activities.
* Ensure compliance with Quality Management system and Health and Safety standards.
Essential Criteria:
* PhD in Electrical Engineering specialising in Power Electronics/Control Engineering.
* Experience in managing research projects.
* Research expertise in power converter design, grid integration, control, and energy management.
* Demonstrated experience using design and modelling tools.
* Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Criteria:
* Hardware experience and knowledge of converters.
* Previous project management experience.
* Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Previous experience in supervising postgraduate students.
* Presentation at conferences.
* Experience working with industry and demonstrating understanding of industry needs.
