Automation Project Engineer
A 12 month contract role with a hourly rate of €50-60 (depending on experience).
Job Responsibilities:
* Ensure adherence to GXP procedures on-site for all related tasks.
* Manage and execute automation change controls.
* Assist in identifying and implementing system improvements and corrective actions.
* Coach operators and maintenance technicians in the effective use of control systems.
* Oversee the specification, development, installation, and validation of automation projects, with direct responsibility for control systems.
* Lead discussions with project teams, provide technical support, and make informed decisions on hardware and architecture selection.
* Collaborate with OEM teams to design, develop, and test PLC code according to site coding standards.
* Work closely with OEM/project teams to fine-tune PLC code during the testing and development phases of projects.
* Conduct system testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues or bugs.
* Ensure the completion of control aspects of projects within the scheduled timeframe and budget.
* Evaluate existing technologies and processes; research and implement new control technologies.
* Coordinate and manage the controls aspects of equipment build and debug.
* Work with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet required quality standards.
* Manage subcontractors and vendors as part of project delivery.
* Represent the client during the qualification and testing of vendor-provided systems.
Job Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
* 5+ years of experience with automated control systems, preferably in the Life Sciences/Pharma sector.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley control systems, including RSLogix/Studio 5000 and Factory Talk View ME/SE.
* Familiarity with Siemens PLC platforms (e.g., TIA Portal, Win CC) is highly desirable.
* Proficiency in PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, function block diagram (FBD), and structured text (ST).
* Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Device Net, Control Net, Profibus, Modbus) and networking concepts.
* Experience with HMI/SCADA systems (e.g., Ignition, Factory Talk).
* Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and techniques for securing SCADA systems.
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, GMP, GAMP) related to automation and control systems in the Life Sciences industry.
* Knowledge of GAMP software development lifecycle, ANSI/ISA-S88 and S95 industry standards, and 21 CFR Part 11.
