Role Purpose:
A full-time, permanent vacancy has arisen for the role of Clinical Nurse Specialist in Paediatric Mental Health with a focus on ADHD. Vhi Health & Wellbeing (H&W) is looking to secure a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) for our Paediatric Clinics with the experience and training required to enable Vhi H&W to deliver high-quality child and adolescent mental health services as part of a multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering effective, recovery-oriented, high-quality, team-based, integrated care for children under 18 years of age, as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
The purpose of this CNS post is to deliver care in line with the five core concepts of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role as defined by the National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (2008). The CNS is a registered nurse with extensive experience and clinical expertise in paediatric mental health. The role will encompass a major clinical focus (direct & indirect) comprising assessment, planning, and delivery of patient care in collaboration with medical and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage patients attending the paediatric mental health service with a broad range of professional skills and knowledge, including communication, leadership, teaching, education, research, and counselling.
* Integrate evidence-based knowledge and research into the delivery of nursing care and administration.
* Embrace change and new initiatives promoting excellence in patient care.
* Ensure a safe environment for staff and patients.
* Encourage and facilitate ongoing professional development for staff.
* Act as a role model and support audit activity.
* Promote a culture of quality and safety in line with Vhi Health & Wellbeing QSR Framework and strategic objectives.
Education & Experience:
* Registered on the Children’s Division and/or the General Division of the register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland or eligible for registration.
* Registered in the Psychiatric Division of the register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland or eligible for registration.
* 5 years post-registration experience, with a minimum of 2 years in paediatric & adolescent ADHD support care.
* Formal recognised post-registration education relevant to the area, at level 8 (higher diploma) according to QQI National Framework.
* Candidates without relevant post-graduate level 8 specialist course will be appointed as Clinical Nurse Manager II initially, but must agree to complete within an agreed timeframe.
* Demonstrate clinical knowledge, reasoning skills, and evidence-based practice appropriate to the role.
* Ability to practice safely and effectively within professional responsibility.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.
* Nurse Prescribing Registration or agree to undertake within an agreed timeframe.
* Demonstrated alignment to Vhi values.
