Overview
The Senior Speech and Language Therapist in Acute Stroke is required to provide quality evidence based, speech and language therapy intervention for patients post stroke. The successful candidate will work with MDT colleagues and engage in team based work as necessary.The Senior Speech and Language Therapist will work with the Speech and Language Therapist Manager and other members of the department in co-ordinating the service and developing the service to meet the needs of the service user. A panel may be formed from which future part - time, full - time, permanent and temporary vacancies may be filled. Appointment as an employee of the Health Service Executive is governed by the Health Act 2004 and the Public Service Management (Recruitment and Appointment) Act 2004.

Essential Criteria
Candidates must:Graduate of a School of Speech and Language Therapy recognised by the CORU Candidates must on the closing date possess:The BSc degree (Clinical Speech and Language Studies) from the university of DublinOrThe BA(Moderatorship)(Remedial Linguistics) from the University of DublinOrThe MSc in Speech and Language Therapy (Professional qualification ) from the University of LimerickOrLicentiateship from the College of Speech TherapistsOrA validated Speech and Language qualification at least equivalent to the above Applicants whose first language is not English and/or who have undergone their Speech and Language Therapy training through English must have achieved the following:A Minimum score of 8.0 in the International English language Testing (IELTS)A pass in the Clinical English Language Competence Exam (CECE) Post Specific RequirementsA recognised dysphagia qualification as approved by CORU/ IASLT Experience in conducting Videofluoroscopy is desirablesenior Stroke post job spec S&L Familiarity with SLT role with regards to stroke rehabilitation Please see job spec attached:
