We are currently recruiting for a full-time Kitchen Porter for RDS Members in Royal Dublin Society. Candidate must have right to work documentation for full-time employment (40 hours per week).
Location: Royal Dublin Society
Rate of pay: €14.50 per hour
Working pattern: 40 hours per week, Monday - Sunday
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Food Production
1. Complete duties in the kitchen and service areas as directed to ensure an efficient, hygienic service.
2. Assist with food preparation as required.
3. Transport food items, cleaning materials, and laundry from delivery area to kitchen store-rooms and preparation areas.
4. Clean kitchen floors, walls, waste bins, hot plates, kitchen equipment, canopies, delivery areas, storerooms, walk-in fridges, and other areas to ensure a hygienic kitchen.
5. Wash, dry, and polish kitchen equipment and service items by hand or machine efficiently.
6. Operate all necessary sterilising equipment.
7. Operate heavy equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions.
8. Correctly dispose of and recycle all rubbish.
Kitchen Finance
1. Check all stock against delivery orders and ensure correct items and quantities are delivered.
2. Account for all stock brought into site and store appropriately to minimise waste and loss.
3. Use equipment carefully to avoid breakage.
4. Assist in weekly and monthly stock-takes as directed.
Health & Safety
1. Comply with Gather & Gather and statutory health, hygiene, and safety standards including COSHH and HACCP.
2. Decant food items in the delivery area and store in appropriate containers to reduce cross-contamination.
3. Decant chemical materials delivered to appropriate containers in line with standards.
4. Use and store all chemicals appropriately in line with standards.
5. Wear the correct uniform and safety shoes as directed.
6. Report any equipment and/or building fabric faults and any hygiene, health, and safety hazards to the Head Chef, senior kitchen brigade members, or General Manager.
Customer Service
1. Maintain a professional and friendly image with the client and customers.
2. Work effectively and cooperatively with colleagues to ensure excellent customer service.
3. Attend to customer needs politely and helpfully, providing assistance where necessary.
4. Assist with the service of food as required and accurately handle cash sales.
Occasional Responsibilities
1. Attend training courses and Gather & Gather meetings when necessary.
2. Act as a resource to the General Manager, Head Chef, and other brigade members.
