Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Engineer within School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering.
The post is available to research on modelling of performance and structural optimisation of structural connectors for offshore mooring lines.
This is a part of a larger project for next generation energy systems, with its offshore wind strand particularly focusing on renewable energy infrastructure.
Better understanding of connectors de-risk such offshore systems and also provide a longer life structures with improved lifetime performance.
To this effect, analysis of structural connectors for various environmental exposure condition scenarios is of particular interest, along with a thorough review of the current needs around such elements.
The work will also shed a deeper insight into the behaviour of materials, including composites in the presence of degradation, along with various uncertainties associated with such systems operating in a natural environment with nonlinear and stochastic loading.
Fixed Salary: €63,300 per annum Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
