You’ll provide the talent, ambition, and drive.As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a fundamental part of a delivery project, leading one of our scrum teams within the Provider Tech space in Dublin. You will be working with a very technical piece of architecture and will collaborate with internal IT Specialists and strategic partners through all phases of the development life cycle.Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.Primary Responsibilities:Perform all phases of software engineering including; requirements analysis, application design, code development, and testingDesign and implement performance and operational enhancementsDesign & Develop reusable components, patterns, and frameworks, encouraging innovation that will enable team velocityReview code and provide feedback relative to best practices and performance improvementConduct design and code reviews to ensure that developed code meets software engineering best practices and guidelines, unit testing, security, and scalability and maintainability guidelinesParticipate in Agile/Scrum methodology to deliver high-quality software releaseWork with a team of software engineers for one or more Agile scrum teams assigned to work on the projectTroubleshoot production support issues post-deployment and design solutions as requiredDesign, code, test, debug, and document software, whilst enhancing existing components to ensure that software meets business requirementsWork very closely with architecture groups to drive software solutionsContribute to the design and architecture to enable secure, scalable, and maintainable software and be able to clearly articulate the implications of design/architectural decisions, issues and plans to technology leadershipCollaborate on design with other team members and product owners, both inside and outside of the scrum teamProvide on call support in rotation with team for DevOps service for 24/7 mission critical systemsYou will be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role, as well as providing development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:Undergraduate degree or equivalent experienceExperience building backend services with Java using Spring Framework (Boot, Core, MVC), Spring Boot strongly preferredExperience working with Docker or Kubernetes.Experience with messaging and stream processing on Kafka or similar messaging technologiesRelational Database knowledgeExperience with cloud services; either AWS or AzureExperience building modular, testable, and reusable softwareExperience building and integrating with internal and external RESTful servicesExperience with DevOps toolsets such as Jenkins, Terraform, etc.Software development methodologies: Agile Scrum & KanbanFamiliarity with AI & Machine Learning (AI-ML) conceptsExperience with Generative AI & Large Language Models (Gen AI, LLM)Preferred Qualifications:Experience developing production grade applications in Spark.Experience developing analytics applications in Spark or similarStrong programming skills in Scala, or PythonPlease note you must currently be eligible to work and remain indefinitely without any restrictions in the country to which you are making an application.
