About the Employer:
Established in 2015, the Southern Regional Assembly, one of 3 Regional Assembles, is part of the regional tier of government in Ireland. The Assembly is based in Waterford City and the 34 Assembly Members represent the 10 local authorities at regional level, including the directly elected Mayor of Limerick.
The Assembly plays an important role in promoting and supporting balanced regional development and is tasked with coordinating, promoting, and supporting strategic planning and sustainable development. It is responsible for regional implementation of the National Planning Framework and National Development Plan through the development and implementation of a statutory Regional Spatial & Economic Strategy (RSES) for the region.

The Senior Executive Officer/Assistant Director is a key management position within the Regional Assembly. Reporting to the Director, this position is charged with the efficient management, direction, and development of the assigned division, initially in the Corporate/HR/Finance/IT Division. Delivery of efficient services and value for money are crucial.
This experienced managerial position is responsible for leading policy implementation, service delivery, and change management in a dynamic and goal-driven environment. The role offers the opportunity to demonstrate leadership, innovation, agility, and a commitment to customer service.
The Senior Executive Officer/Assistant Director will work as part of the Senior Management Team and closely with Elected Members to deliver services, implement policy decisions, and achieve strategic corporate objectives.
About You:
The ideal candidate shall have the following Essential Skills and Experience:
1. Significant experience at a management level;
2. Experience in implementing strategies to meet objectives and improving services;
3. Experience in managing and supervising employees, building effective teams, and maintaining sound employee relations;
4. Ability to promote an open knowledge-sharing environment;
5. Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills;
6. Excellent organization skills and discipline;
7. Experience in managing finance and budgets to ensure value for money;
8. A knowledge and understanding of local/regional government structures in Ireland.
