Job Title: Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager
Company Background:
Cental, a global designer and manufacturer of Modular Infrastructure is looking to recruit a HR Manager. The position will be based in Carlow Town, Co. Carlow and working closely with the Senior Team.
Location: Cental Engineering (HV and Data Center Modular Build Solutions)
Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer
Job Overview:
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager will oversee the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Cental Engineering's EHS programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and driving a proactive safety culture. The EHS Manager will be responsible for mitigating risks, preventing workplace incidents, and promoting environmental sustainability throughout the organization. This role plays a critical part in advancing Lean principles and world-class manufacturing within the modular build solutions environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. EHS Program Development and Compliance:
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS policies and procedures in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and reviews of safety practices across the business to ensure adherence to internal and external standards.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (OSHA, EPA, local regulations) and industry best practices in modular manufacturing and high-voltage engineering environments.
Lead investigations into incidents, near-misses, and root cause analysis, implementing corrective and preventative actions.
2. Health and Safety Leadership:
Drive the development of a proactive safety culture by embedding EHS into daily operations, with strong alignment to Lean and Continuous Improvement practices (e.g., TPM, IL6S).
Coordinate and deliver safety training programs for employees, contractors, and management to raise awareness and competence in safe work practices, including emergency preparedness and high-risk activities.
Ensure proper safety measures, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and protocols are in place for all modular construction projects and factory operations.
3. Environmental Sustainability Initiatives:
Develop and lead environmental initiatives aligned with Cental’s sustainability goals, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and carbon-neutrality projects.
Monitor environmental impacts, including air, water, and soil quality, ensuring compliance with environmental standards.
Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to minimize environmental impact through innovative process improvements and sustainable design principles.
4. Risk Management and Mitigation:
Manage hazard identification processes and implement strategies for reducing workplace risks associated with heavy engineering, high-voltage work, and modular construction activities.
Lead emergency preparedness and response plans, including fire safety, evacuation drills, and hazardous material management.
5. Continuous Improvement and Lean Integration:
Partner with operations and engineering teams to integrate EHS principles into Lean manufacturing methodologies such as Kaizen, 5S, and TPM.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to benchmark best practices and enhance EHS performance metrics in line with the Ideal Factory vision.
Participate in safety and quality initiatives, contributing to the site's journey towards operational excellence.
Key Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related discipline (Master's preferred).
2. Minimum of 5+ years of EHS management experience in a manufacturing, heavy engineering, or modular construction environment.
3. Strong knowledge of EHS regulatory frameworks (e.g., OSHA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, EPA standards).
4. Experience implementing safety and environmental programs in a Lean or Continuous Improvement setting.
5. Proven ability to lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
6. Exceptional communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
7. Certification in EHS disciplines (e.g., NEBOSH, CSP, CIH, or similar).

1. Ability to analyse complex safety risks in high-voltage and modular build environments.
2. Experience working on environmental sustainability and carbon-neutral initiatives.
3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on Lean-driven solutions.
4. Proficiency with EHS management systems and safety audit tools.
