The purpose of this role is to identify and support the needs of the family. To support the implementation of individual plans in an outcome-focused manner, to capitalise on individual strengths and to build resilience. To take a participatory and best practice approach by exploring innovative ways of meeting the needs of families within the community.
Contract: This is a full-time post Mon to Fri, 34 hours per week. Some other hours may be required from time to time.
Based in Monkstown Farm, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, this role will require flexibility and willingness to travel within the wider Dun Laoghaire Rathdown area to accommodate programme facilitation and outreach work in the community.
Job Title: Social Care Worker (Family Project Worker)
Responsibilities include:
* To work directly with families, providing one-to-one and group programme support to children, young people, and their parents/guardians.
* To participate in outreach work to engage families and young people at risk.
* To provide support, information, and intervention on issues having a negative impact on the family.
* Support parents in their parenting role.
* To advocate on behalf of the children, young people, and families living in the community.
* To develop positive working relationships and to actively network with stakeholders, partners, and professionals working within the sector.
* To carry an individual caseload, facilitate group programmes, and participate fully as a member of the My Project… Minding You team.
* To participate in service planning to support the project in identifying gaps and needs.
* To carry out other duties as may be requested from time to time.
Criteria:
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
* Minimum BA Degree in Applied Social Care: full level 7 (minimum) awarded by the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) QQI and eligible to register with CORU.
* Experience of engaging with and supporting vulnerable children, young people, and families.
* Experience of working collaboratively within a team and with professionals from relevant agencies in child, family, and community services.
* Previous experience working with individuals, families, children, or young people in relation to substance misuse and those affected by parental problem alcohol/drug use is required.
* An understanding of family dynamics, youth mental health, substance misuse, hidden harm, separated families, DVA, homelessness.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
* The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with children, young people, and their families together with the ability to communicate and work effectively within a small team.
* The ability to create and maintain records, case notes, and written reports in relation to individual supports, group programmes, and related matters.
* The ability to work in a flexible manner as appropriate to the needs of the role.
Required

* An understanding of family dynamics, youth mental health, substance misuse, hidden harm, separated families, DVA, homelessness.
* Additional training in areas such as Parenting Support Programmes, Mental Health Support, Recovery Support.
* Ability to relate with stakeholders across multiple sectors.
* An understanding of working with people who have experienced trauma.
* Hold a current driving license and have access to a vehicle.
Salary: based on HSE Consolidated Pay Scale (Social Care Worker point 3 – 5, (€42,392 – €45,185) offer dependent on experience).
