Purpose of the Post: To work within a multi-disciplinary team in providing a safe, effective, high quality midwifery service to women, babies and their families.
The staff midwife will provide evidence based midwifery care in the maternity department, antenatal outpatient service and community service as the services develop providing choice to women requiring maternity services in the catchment area.
Eligibility Criteria, Qualifications and / or Experience: 1.
Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc. (a) Candidates must be: -
(i) Be registered in the Midwives Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI] (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann) or be entitled to be so registered.
AND (b) Have clinical and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.

Annual Registration (i) On appointment, practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the Midwifery Division of the Register of Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI](Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann).
AND (ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with NMBI to the HSE by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).

Health A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Character Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.
Post Specific Requirements: Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in maternity care as relevant to the role. Have successfully completed an accredited neonatal resuscitation certification or agree to undertake an accredited neonatal resuscitation certification within an agreed time period. Have successfully completed an accredited fetal monitoring certification or agree to undertake an accredited foetal monitoring certification within an agreed time period. Have successfully completed an accredited breastfeeding / lactation programme or agree to undertake an accredited breastfeeding / lactation programme within an agreed time period.
