Global Engagement Office
Griffith College’s Global Engagement Office, known informally as Griffith Global, plays a central role in all of the College’s internationalisation activities. The Global Office works with stakeholders across all faculties and at our sister campuses in Cork and Limerick to actively promote and encourage enhanced internationalisation activities.
Through Griffith Global, the College recruits international learners to study in Ireland, develops academic, research and collaborative partnerships with overseas higher education providers across the Globe, provides pastoral care and welfare support to its international learners and fosters an environment of cultural awareness within the institution.
Job Summary:
The Erasmus, Partnership, and Policy Manager will play an important role in delivering the College’s ambition to grow outward mobility and fully embrace the full suite of options and benefits presented by the EU's Eramus+ programme. The successful incumbent will also drive the College’s engagement in the DIVERSE Alliance, an EU University association.
In addition, the College is proud to work with over 150 global academic partners, a large number of education agents and several key internal stakeholder groups making Griffith one of the most successful internationally focused higher education institutions in Ireland. The incumbent will work with all stakeholders to ensure all relevant agreements are delivering from academic, quality and commercial perspectives. The Global Engagement Office is a high-performing group of motivated and committed people who pull together and support each other during periods of high demand. Therefore, like all team members, the incumbent must be willing to operate outside their core focus area when high-volume business needs dictate.
Job Responsibilities:
Erasmus+
Champion outward mobility opportunities for Griffith learners and staff
Support faculties and departments in establishing and structuring outward mobility
Be the face and voice of Griffith with national agencies concerning the College’s enhanced Eramus+ engagement ambitions
Coordinate and, where relevant, lead the development of necessary QA policies and procedures to support staff and student mobility
Implement all the regular procedures to continue to secure Eramus+ funding from the HEA to meet outward mobility needs Accurate and timely reporting to the HEA and EU authorities concerning Eramus+ spending and activities
Evaluate existing Erasmus+ agreements and establish criteria for developing new agreements.
Champion other activities available to the College via Erasmus+, such as BIPS, COILS, etc
Oversee the Eramus+ documentation for inward mobility students.
DIVERSE Alliance
Establish an engagement structure to inform all members of the College community about DIVERSE activities
Champion and support BIP, COIL, articulation and other cooperation opportunities
Support nominated Griffith DIVERSE working group members in delivering key objectives
Facilitate relationship-building activities between Griffith faculty members and counterparts in DIVERSE alliance members
Agents, Collaborative Partners, Satellite Offices, Academic Partnerships
Ensure all documentation for academic partners and agents is accurate, correct and complete
Ensure due process is followed for any agreements being signed
Establish protocols to support the monitoring, review and performance appraisal of agents and partners in collaboration with the relevant Marketing Officers/Regional Managers
Support the development of communication documentation for partners concerning partnership and mobility opportunities, in collaboration with the relevant Marketing Officers/Regional Managers
Become a key part of partnership delegation meetings and be an ongoing source of support to Marketing Officers/Regional Managers to maintain and enhance best practice and optimise communication channels.
South Asian/Indian Office
Become the main point of contact for the Indian Office in relation to admissions and administration
Enhance and further develop training documentation
Conduct regular meetings and training sessions
Implement quality assurance checking procedures
Provide regular feedback to the GEO Director and Office Manager
ICHAS
Become the key contact between the Global Engagement Office and ICHAS
Be the ‘admissions link’ to support the independence of ICHAS admissions
Support MOs in coordinating interviews for relevant applicants
Seek to continually enhance the relationship and efficiency of processes between the Global Engagement Office and ICHAS
Learner On-boarding and Life-Cycle Support
Take ownership of the induction process for international learners and represent the Global Engagement Office on the Induction committee
Develop a range of support and welcoming (non-academic focused) activities to support learners’ arrival and acclimatisation to Ireland, e.g. first 30 days, first 60 days
Work with Global Engagement Office team members, coordinate and host activities for learners at key points across the year, e.g. The Global Engagement Office Halloween Spooktacular
Be an advocate for positive process and operational change that benefits the international learner community
Act as a pastoral care point of contact when students’ non-academic issues require GEO intervention, especially in relation to liaising with other departments in the College.
Irish Education Mark (IEM)
Support GEO colleagues in the IEM application process as required.
Liaise with colleagues outside of the GEO if necessary
The level of support may involve taking ownership of certain sections of the application, and/or overseeing elements of the application as appropriate.
Policy
Ensure the Global Engagement Office’s practices and operations are, at the very least, in line with best practice
Support the development, review and enhancement of policy documents
Actively seek to ensure the Global Engagement Office is leading positive change within the College through robust internal review and reflective practices
Support all Global Engagement Officers in developing and/or reflecting on policies that will enhance their roles and contributions to support the College’s realisation of its Vision.
Develop and monitor service-level agreements between the Global Engagement Office and key internal stakeholder groups.
The ideal candidate should have the following skills and attributes:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A second European language would be advantageous
Proven customer-facing skills
Strong organisation skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Capability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Experience working in a multicultural environment would be extremely beneficial
Experience working in an education environment at third level would be extremely beneficial
Experience with Erasmus+ policy, documentation and projects would be extremely beneficial
Minimum Education/ Experience Requirements:
Excellent communication and administrative skills
Minimum of Level 8 honours degree. Level 9 Master’s Degree an advantage
Fluent in English; minimum CEFR C1 level.
