Staff Nurse CCU - UPMC Whitfield
UPMC Whitfield Hospital is seeking a Staff Nurse for its Coronary Care Unit on a permanent, full-time basis.
About the Role
The successful candidate will provide expert cardiology nursing advice and educational support to patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams. They will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing care needs, as well as evaluating skilled professional care under the direction of the Department Manager.
Main Responsibilities
* Clinical Responsibilities:
o Recognise life-threatening and non-life-threatening arrhythmias within the CCU and through telemetry monitoring throughout the hospital.
o Demonstrate expertise in nursing assessment and management of emergency cardiac admissions and acutely ill cardiac patients.
o Provide a safe and welcoming environment for patients and their relatives in a highly complex and technical area.
* Quality and Audit Responsibilities:
o Participate in clinical audit and research activity within the field, promoting evidence-based practice.
o Undertake research/clinical audit as necessary, critically analyse and provide written reports.
* Health and Safety Responsibilities:
o To uphold UPMC Whitfield Hospital's policy requirements in relation to Fire, Infection Control, Radiation Safety and Health and Safety at work regulations.
o Identify potential risks for all staff, patients and visitors and adhere to relevant incident reporting procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Be Registered General Nurse with The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
* Minimum of 4 years working in a coronary care setting.
* Competency in ECG interpretation or a willingness to undertake study for the same.
