Job Description:
This position is responsible for leading the process maintenance activities within the Facilities and Engineering function. The role will report to the Director of Plant Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide tactical and strategic leadership to the maintenance function, delivering high levels of reliability, quality, and safety in all operations aligned with the manufacturing plan.
* Own the delivery and professional execution of the overall maintenance plan, utilizing strong influencing and leadership skills as part of the cross-functional plant leadership team.
* Manage broader departmental responsibilities, providing technical, project management, emergency response, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance support for process-related equipment across multiple unit operations and plant areas.
* Accountable for delivering the maintenance strategy for all process equipment, incorporating modern maintenance and reliability methodologies in its design.
* Develop accurate resource planning and capacity models that integrate the maintenance function within all aspects of short or long-range planning (LRP) processes of the Integrated Business Process (IBP).
* Create, manage, and provide relevant justification for the department's productivity goals and financial budgets.
* Deploy effective training strategies to ensure standardized training, competence, and knowledge are in place and balanced across the maintenance organization.
* Develop the best team by coaching and mentoring technicians to develop their technical competency and leadership skills.
* Responsible for developing and executing the consolidated site routine shutdown/slowdown program to agreed schedules and frequency.
* Collaborate with broader site functions to support qualification, validation, and regulatory inspection programs with a focus on quality, aseptic compliance, and process simplification and/or improvement.
* Accountable for investigations into complex process deviations, including robust CAPA execution/closure to avoid reoccurrence.
* Maintain a high level of safety supervision and engagement across the team to improve the culture of safety collaboration onsite.
* Facilitate the plant in project approval, prioritization, execution, and implementation.
* Maintain relationships across the department to sustain an environment that promotes flexibility, efficient operations, and consistent maintenance practices.
* Develop meaningful maintenance metrics and goals to support site benchmarking and comparison across the network and industry to drive a continuous improvement culture.
* Integrate with relevant Maintenance/Engineering global peer groups across the Amgen and industry networks to improve reliability, site alignment, efficiency, agility, and differentiation.
* Responsible to support development of relationship with CONNECT union both tactically and strategically on site.
Basic Qualifications:
* Typically 8+ years of experience in an engineering management position, with typically 4+ years' experience supervising technical staff.
* Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a combination of education and/or years of experience in Maintenance Management.
* Fundamental knowledge of applicable quality management and regulatory requirements.
* Ability to lead and develop large teams in a complex operation.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
