The Heavy Equipment Mechanic analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains power equipment, such as diesel motors and generators, dump trucks, backhoes, payloaders, pumps, compressors, and small engine commercial grade lawn equipment.
Responsibilities
* Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects. Dismantle and reassemble equipment, using hoists and hand tools.
* Inspect, service, disassemble, repair, replace, and reassemble bearings, seals, shafts, gears, hydraulic cylinders, actuators, gauges, motors, lubricators, cylinder liners, and pumps.
* Perform welding, cutting, brazing, soldering, and joining of ferrous and nonferrous materials.
* Inspect, service, disassemble, repair, install, and reassemble lifting equipment including overhead cranes and portable cranes located in shops and structures.
* Utilize a variety of hand tools common to the requirements of the contract.
* Lift and carry heavy objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
* Ensure work orders are properly filled out and returned to work management when complete.
* Support the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including training and adherence to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills.
* This position may be part of an emergency management/response team as required by the company to meet contract requirements.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED.
* Valid state driver license or Commercially licensed (CDL A or B).
* Possess a current and valid State driver's license covering the type of vehicle or equipment being used.
* Must maintain a current commercial driver’s license for the type of vehicle being operated.
* Minimum three (3) years prior experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Experience in repairing engines, transmissions, transfers, hydraulic, air brakes, electrical, power train, and general mechanical maintenance systems of moderate difficulty.
* Ability to perform welding and minor body repair.
* Ability to lift or carry heavy objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
