We are looking to recruit a Nature Financing Development Project Lead to spearhead the development and implementation of innovative financing mechanisms for large-scale nature restoration projects. This role will focus on integrating financial expertise with a deep understanding of Irish land use and farm policy to ensure the sustainability and scalability of restoration initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with the Hometree team and external partners to create models that align ecological goals with economic incentives.
The Nature Financing Development Project Lead will be instrumental in positioning Hometree as a leader in sustainable finance for nature restoration, advocating for policies and strategies that align with Ireland’s environmental and agricultural policies. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine financial acumen with ecological passion to drive impactful projects that restore Ireland's natural landscapes.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build a team of staff and consultants to build a financing mechanism suited to Ireland's unique land ownership patterns and one that aligns with Hometree's values and philosophy.
* Develop and implement financing strategies to support large-scale nature restoration projects.
* Undertake a review and analysis of the current nature financing landscape.
* Lead the development of economic models that support habitat creation, biodiversity enhancement, and sustainable land management.
* Work closely with Hometree's ecology and land partnership teams to develop projects.
* Collaborate with stakeholders, including government bodies, financial institutions, and landowners, to align funding mechanisms with Ireland’s land use and farm policies.
* Create and manage partnerships that facilitate investment in nature restoration, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.
* Oversee a pilot implementation project.
* Monitor and evaluate the financial performance of projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and long-term viability.
* Advocate for policy changes that enhance funding opportunities for ecological restoration.
Qualifications and Experience Overview:
* Knowledge of Land Use and Farm Policy: In-depth understanding of Irish land use, farm policy, and agri-environmental schemes is essential for ensuring that financial strategies align with national and regional priorities.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Experience working with governmental bodies, NGOs, and the private sector to foster collaboration and secure funding.
* Technical Competency: Proficiency in financial modeling, project management software, and data analysis tools relevant to large-scale environmental projects.
* Interdisciplinary Communication Skills: Ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders, including ecologists, policymakers, and community groups.
* Core Expertise: A primary degree in finance, economics, or a related field, combined with substantial experience (10+ years) in financial management, investment, or project financing.
Desirable Experience and Skills:
* Sustainable Finance and Environmental Economics: Experience in carbon markets, ecosystem services valuation, or green bonds will be advantageous.
* Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and funding streams.
* Commitment to Environmental Values: A passion for environmental work and previous experience in conservation or nature-related finance roles would further align a candidate with Hometree’s mission.
Position Highlights:
* Remuneration: €42,000 - €50,000 per annum, reflecting the seniority and expertise required for the role.
* Work Environment: A four-day work week, six weeks of annual leave, and flexible work options support a healthy work-life balance.
