Role Overview:
As a Town Planner, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the planning and development of sustainable projects across Ireland. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with a keen understanding of town planning regulations, environmental impact assessments, and sustainable development. The position will be based in one of our operational hubs (Cork, Dublin, or Carlow) with a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to balance remote and office-based work.
The Role:
1. Work with the team to deliver town planning solutions for a range of projects including residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure developments.
2. Provide advice on planning regulations, zoning, and compliance with local, regional, and national planning policies.
3. Undertake environmental impact assessments and work closely with engineers and environmental specialists to ensure projects meet environmental sustainability standards.
4. Prepare and submit planning applications, including preparing documentation and liaising with local authorities, stakeholders, and community groups.
5. Conduct site assessments and analysis to support planning and environmental strategies.
6. Contribute to the preparation of planning policy reports and development plans for clients.
7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of planning and environmental legislation, regulations, and best practices.
8. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to identify planning solutions for complex environmental and development challenges.
9. Manage project timelines, deliverables, and budgets to ensure the successful completion of planning applications and projects.
Requirements:
1. A degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, or a related field (Masters qualification is advantageous).
2. Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in town planning, preferably within an environmental engineering or consultancy setting.
3. Full membership or working towards full membership of the Irish Planning Institute (IPI) or an equivalent professional body is desirable.
4. In-depth knowledge of Irish planning law, environmental regulations, and sustainability practices.
5. Strong experience in preparing planning applications and navigating local authority processes.
6. Experience with environmental impact assessments, including the identification and mitigation of potential environmental risks.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage stakeholders, local authorities, and the public.
8. Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver high-quality work on time and within budget.
9. Proficiency in planning software and Microsoft Office Suite.
10. A proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach to problem-solving.
