Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Associate - Biostatistics Sources & Health Impacts of Dietary Potassium Intake
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time, fixed-term position as a Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Associate in Biostatistics with the School of Medicine at the University of Galway, Ireland. This position is funded by the Health Research Board of Ireland and is available immediately to contract end date of 30th September 2027 (approximately 2.5 year position).
The Sources and Health Impacts of Dietary Potassium (SHIP) project is led by Professor Andrew Smyth, Professor of Clinical Epidemiology, School of Medicine, University of Galway. The SHIP project aims to explore the complex associations between nutrition health, including non-communicable disease (NCD), on the premise that future dietary modification may prevent or delay NCD. The SHIP will utilise multi-level modelling approaches to determine levels of dietary intake, including predominant sources, at global, regional and economic levels within an existing, large, international cohort study with rich dietary data.
Minimum Requirements:
* PhD in Statistics/Biostatistics OR exceptionally equivalent research experience (>=4 years full-time research experience after primary degree [including industrial research and development])
* Experience and ability to implement specific research programmes in collaboration with PI
* Possess sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge relevant to this project
* Previous experience in applying statistical methods in biomedical research using large data
* Demonstrated publication record, relevant to this field and commensurate with level of experience
* Strong statistical programming skills in R, Python or other statistical program/language
* Excellent oral and written communication skills which empower the individual to clearly communicate statistical issues and methodology to both statisticians and non-statisticians
* Motivation for development of new approaches to analyses
* Excellent attention to detail
