Mechanical Quantity Surveyor - Engineering Contractor - Dublin

Are you a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor with 3+ years of experience working with engineering consultancies or mechanical contractors? This is a permanent role based in Dublin, primarily focusing on a Mechanical QS role for a large 3rd level college project.
The candidate will be responsible for managing all commercial aspects of assigned “Live” construction projects, from setting initial cost budgets to compiling and closing out final accounts. They will work closely with the project team to ensure that projects are completed within budget and that all financial aspects are in order. This role will involve both office and site-based work.
This is a great opportunity for an ambitious quantity surveyor to contribute to a developing and expanding department in a fast-growing business.
1. Analyse tender BoQ’s to set construction budgets for procurement of assigned projects.
2. Monthly cost tracking against budgets and reporting.
3. Liaise with internal/external stakeholders on commercial aspects of projects.
4. Prepare, submit, and achieve certification on Monthly Payment Claim Notices.
5. Compile costs and achieve agreement of contract adjustments throughout the project.
6. Maintain accurate records and ensure project commercial registers are updated.
7. Certify subcontractors and maintain accurate control accounts for each.
8. Manage contractual aspects of projects, including contracts and warranties.
9. Monitor commercial performance and forecasts to completion.
10. Report monthly on commercial performance to directors at progress report meetings.
11. Ensure QS departmental reports and claims are issued to deadlines.
12. Identify and assess potential risks related to commercial aspects of projects.
Requirements
1. Qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
2. 3+ years’ experience in a quantity surveying role with a mechanical contractor.
3. Strong understanding of mechanical installations.
4. Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
5. Strong negotiation and communication skills, focused on M&E components.
6. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
7. Ability to work well as part of a team.
8. Strong organisational skills and methodical record keeping.
9. Strong IT Skills, Microsoft Office Suite required.
