Job Summary
This is a permanent Cook position based in Newtownabbey, where the successful candidate will support the Cook Manager and Catering team.
The role involves working in two different locations within walking distance of each other.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Lead, motivate and direct a team of kitchen colleagues to deliver a first-class catering service to residents.
* Prepare menus in consultation with the Cook Manager, Home Manager, residents, families, and catering committees.
* Understand individual nutritional needs and choices.
* In the absence of the Cook Manager, plan and deliver set menus.
* Take responsibility for stock taking, stock rotation, and storage of stock, including checking and receiving deliveries when required by the Cook Manager.
* Monitor and replenish kitchen and food stocks in conjunction with the Home Manager.
* Maintain records of stock levels in line with company procedures.
Requirements:
* Must be reliable.
* Previous experience as a chef or line cook in a high-volume kitchen.
* An experienced and capable Cook.
* Able to work under own initiative and in a fast-paced environment.
* A team player who engages well with others.
* Willing to positively contribute towards enhancing quality and service levels for all service users.
* Able to follow recipes/SOPs accurately and consistently produce high-quality dishes.
* A strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
