Purpose of the Role:
The post holder is responsible for leading the delivery of evidence-based nursing care by all staff in the clinical area. They are responsible for the planning, coordination, and management of resources.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement training programs using evidence-based practice to ensure nursing standards align with international best practices.
* Lead the development of quality standard operating policies utilizing current research.
* Provide professional and clinical leadership, striving to improve the delivery of quality nursing care within the department.
Requirements:
* Registered General Nurse with The Nursing Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or eligible to register.
* 5 years post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting or relevant clinical area within the last 7 years.
* Demonstrate management experience throughout the last 2 years.
* A recognised qualification in gerontological nursing or agreement to undertake same.
* At least 5 years clinical experience in acute care of the older person services.
* A Primary Degree or Postgraduate Diploma/Qualification in Nursing.
* Demonstrate I.T. skills, including excellent keyboard skills.
* Experience in teaching and assessing the nursing and HCA team throughout the last 2 years.
* Experience in personal and professional development of staff.
Desired Qualifications:
* Management course/qualification.
* Working knowledge of healthcare patient record systems.
* Practical experience in presentation/lecturing and curriculum development.
