Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This entry-level position is ideal for a recent graduate who is eager to start their career in accounting and finance. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day financial transactions, maintain accurate financial records, and support the finance team in ensuring the smooth running of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounts Payable & Receivable:
o Assist in processing invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports.
o Help in reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies.
o Support the team in managing accounts receivable, including processing customer payments and following up on outstanding invoices.
2. Bank Reconciliation:
o Assist in reconciling company bank statements with accounting records.
o Ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions.
3. Data Entry:
o Accurately input financial data into accounting systems.
o Maintain and update financial records, ensuring they are complete and organized.
4. Financial Reporting:
o Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
o Support the finance team in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
5. General Ledger Maintenance:
o Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting and verifying journal entries.
o Help in ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded and classified.
6. Administrative Support:
o Provide administrative support to the finance team as needed, including filing, answering queries, and assisting with audits.
7. Learning and Development:
o Take initiative in learning new accounting practices and tools.
o Attend relevant training sessions and workshops to enhance accounting knowledge and skills.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Education:
o A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
2. Technical Skills:
o Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
o Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) is a plus but not required.
3. Personal Attributes:
o Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
o Good organizational and time management skills.
o Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
o Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
o Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
4. Experience:
o Previous internship or part-time experience in an accounting or finance role is advantageous but not required.
