We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Production Planner within our international spring team to help support our bedding business. As a Production Planner, you will have the opportunity to work within a high-volume manufacturing environment. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by managing the flow of materials throughout the facility. The team you will be working with is diverse, collaborative, and high performing, and values diversity of thought and adaptability.
So, what will you be doing as a Production Planner?
* Schedule factory operations to ensure optimal customer service and maximum factory throughput.
* Aim to ensure delivery of all orders in line with customer expectations.
* Maximize machine and labor efficiency by order batching to improve machine uptime and crew utilization.
* Manage flow of materials through the factory ensuring WIP stocks are minimized while ensuring availability of materials.
* Maintain effective capacity plan, highlighting potential bottlenecks or surplus capacity to management.
* Complete performance to plan and throughput reports on a daily/weekly basis.
* Use data from S&OP team to forecast longer-term capacity constraints and surpluses.
* Work closely with customer service to ensure delivery information is accurate and up to date.
* Manage production requirements for on-time delivery to sister site.
* Develop and maintain effective relationships with the planning team on sister site.
* Challenge production function to deliver the plan, highlighting non-performing areas.
* Set priorities when capacity is constrained.
* Work with IT function to ensure effective tools are available to facilitate improvement of function.
* Any other duties as may be required by the business.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
* Good at building relationships across functions with others in the business.
* Minimum 5 years planning experience in a high volume multi-stage manufacturing environment.
* Understanding of demand, supply, inventory and planning dynamics and concepts such as MRP, JIT, lean, and theory of constraints.
* Good level of English and Mathematics.
* High degree of computer literacy.
