Role To assist the Quality Manager and Laboratory Managers in the development and maintenance of the quality system to support busy Microbiology and Chemistry Laboratories and to ensure systems are suitable for the current and future needs of the laboratory.
Working to INAB & ISO 17025 requirements.
Key Responsibilities Assist and have responsibility for the maintenance of equipment: making sure calibration and QMS documents and records are up to date and valid.
Be responsible for the maintenance and implementation of an Archive system as specified in Quality Management System.
Be responsible for quality checks to ensure that they are carried out each day whilst ensuring that are continually implemented by the team including on weekends.
Such checks include calibration checks, internal quality controls, media quality controls, spiked samples, daily checks such as temperatures checks, pipette checks, balance checks etc.
Responsible for Measurement Uncertainty records to ensure that they are up to date and accurate.
To be a part of the PT programme as required by Deputy/Quality Manager, ensuring that PT samples are properly received, registered and analysed by the appropriate analysts in a timely manner.
Act as an Audit Officer for the internal audit of the quality system.
Assist with the completion of Induction and Training Records for new staff.
Undertake spot checks of laboratory records to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
Responsible for the Environmental Monitoring Programme.
Responsible for registering new suppliers onto the QMS and maintaining the approval process.
Ensure critical supplies documents are in place/reviewed.
Responsible for the maintenance, recording and commissioning of culture media.
Ensure that the document control procedure is adhered to in all areas.
Assist with nonconforming work and complaint investigations.
Responsible for day to day QMS administration relating to the above activities.
Assist with preparations for assessment visits by external auditors and customers.
Co-ordinate the collation of information e.g.
evidence of corrective action for reporting to the Quality/Laboratory Managers.
Assist in Validation / Verifications and method development projects.
To undertake laboratory-based tasks as directed by Quality / Laboratory Manager.
Act as a Training Officer.
Qualifications Essential Third level qualification in a Science related discipline is preferred Ideally minimum of 2 years quality or laboratory experience but less experienced candidates with strong desire for career in quality role will also be considered Fluent in English and confident with record keeping Good organisational and IT skills and ability to plan and manage own workload Able to work alone and within a team.
