WE ARE SEEKING A CREATIVE AND ENTHUSIASTIC CHEF TO JOIN OUR TEAM IN GREENHILL NURSING HOME, CARRICK ON SUIR IN SOUTH TIPPERARY ON A PART TIME BASIS.
THE INDIVIDUAL MUST BE COMPASSIONATE AND PATIENT WHEN ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF OUR RESIDENTS AND DEDICATED TO PROVIDING MEALS OF THE HIGHEST STANDARDS TO ENHANCE THE RESIDENTS DINING EXPERIENCE.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. CHECKING DATES IN STORE, COOLER AND FREEZER DAILY AND MANAGING SUCH.
2. PROVIDE DAILY MEALS TO OUR RESIDENTS AND STAFF ACCORDING TO DIETARY REQUIREMENTS AND DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT MENUS, COLLABORATING WITH THE FACILITIES NURSING STAFF TO ENSURE RESIDENTS HAVE ADEQUATE CHOICE IN MEALS ROTATING REGULARLY THAT ARE SUITED TO THEIR NEEDS (E.G. LOW SODIUM OR DIABETIC DIETS).
3. ORDERING AND MANAGEMENT OF KITCHEN STOCK TO REDUCE/ELIMINATE WASTE AND ENSURE PRODUCE IS FRESH.
4. CONFIDENT IN YOUR OWN ABILITY AND ABLE TO WORK WELL AND AT YOUR OWN INITIATIVE.
5. USE OF CATERING EQUIPMENT AND MONITORING OF FOOD TEMPERATURES ACCORDING TO HACCP, RECORDING SUCH DATA DAILY IN THE KITCHEN HACCP LOG TO COMPLY WITH REGULATORY GUIDELINES AND KEEPING ANY OTHER DAILY LOGS UP TO DATE (E.G. CLEANING SCHEDULES).
6. KEEPING THE WORKSPACE CLEAN AND TIDY WITH A CLEAN AS YOU GO SYSTEM OPERATING IN OUR KITCHEN, DAILY CLEANING OF BENCHES, SHELVES AND EQUIPMENT AS NECESSARY.
7. WORK ALONGSIDE OUR KITCHEN ASSISTANTS TO ENSURE TIMELY PRESENTATION OF MEALS TO RESIDENTS DAILY, CANDIDATE WILL REPORT TO THE DIRECTOR OF NURSING OR A/DON.
8. FOSTER AN INCLUSIVE AND FRIENDLY WORK ENVIRONMENT INTEGRATING KITCHEN ASSISTANTS INTO DAILY OPERATIONS, DELEGATING TASKS AS REQUIRED.
9. ATTEND STAFF MEETINGS AND FIRE DRILLS AS REQUIRED.
10. ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH ALL HEALTH AND SAFETY REGULATIONS WITHIN THE KITCHEN AND RAISING ANY CONCERNS/ISSUES WITH DIRECT MANAGER.
11. MANAGE ANY OTHER DUTIES THAT MAY ARISE WITHIN THEIR SCOPE, WITH SUPPORT FROM MANAGEMENT.
12. FLEXIBILITY WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY GIVEN THE NATURE OF THE NURSING HOME'S NEEDS; CANDIDATE CAN EXPECT TO WORK 2 DAYS PER WEEK ACROSS ANY DAYS OF THE WEEK REQUIRED WITH HOURS VARYING.
APPLICANT WILL BE SUBJECT TO GARDA VETTING.
CULINARY ARTS DEGREE OR EQUIVALENT CERTIFICATION PREFERRED, MUST HAVE MINIMUM 2 YEARS KITCHEN EXPERIENCE, PREFERABLY IN A HEALTH CARE ENVIRONMENT AND MUST HAVE UP TO DATE TRAINING IN HACCP AND MANUAL HANDLING.
RATE OF PAY NEGOTIABLE DEPENDENT ON EXPERIENCE.
