Job Title: Team Leader (Supported Living Services)
Job Overview
WALK provides supports for people with intellectual disabilities living in community supported living settings and day service supports. The Team Leader is responsible for the operational management of one or more locations within our supported living services as well as providing direct care and support to the people supported by WALK. It is a key role within the leadership structure of the organisation and in ensuring person-centred and autism-informed approaches are inherent in the thinking and practice of staff.
The Team Leader will work collaboratively with the Team Coordinator and the local team to provide safe and effective services under the HIQA registration and inspection criteria.
The Team Leader will report to the Team Coordinator and be responsible for the management, induction, probation and supervision of the local team and relief support workers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Ability to deliver on the vision of the organisation to support people to have self-determined lives in socially inclusive communities.
* Ability to be solution-oriented and promote a culture which works in partnership with the people we support to build a life reflective of their individual hopes, aspirations, will and preference.
* Demonstrated understanding and implementation of interventions that are guided by a low arousal, rights-based, autism-informed approach.
* Developing a motivated team who are effective in providing safe and person-centred support for the people in our care.
* Teams are supported to effectively deliver on person-centred goals and work with people WALK supports to develop their skills, competencies and confidence in order to make positive contributions in their community.
* Support staff teams to ensure they build meaningful and supportive connections with the people WALK supports, their families and community through a range of interests, access to community activities, venues and services.
* Staff are regularly supervised and receive feedback on performance which results in agreed outcomes identified to develop competencies in line with progression of people supported goals.
* Effective review and implementation of personal plans for people supported.
* Monitoring and review of the clinical framework and associated support plans that exist for the persons supported under your remit. This leads to reduced risk probability that is accepted by WALK and the HSE. It additionally results in quality of life and wellbeing improvements evidenced by impact measurement data.
Essential Criteria
* A third level qualification in Social Care or related field.
* Demonstrated experience in supporting people with Intellectual Disabilities and/or Autism.
* Experience leading teams in the social care sector.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office.
* Knowledge and experience of implementing National Standards and Regulations.
* Full driver’s license mandatory for Kildare service.
Desirable Criteria
* Management qualification.
* Knowledge and experience of autism-informed approach.
* Experience managing rosters.
* Full driver’s license.

* Starting from point 1 of the HSE 2021 Salary scale (depending on experience).
* Flexible work hours including sleepovers, weekends, and bank holidays.
* 169hrs per month on a 7-day roster; 281 hours annual leave.
* 50% premium payment paid for Sunday hours.
* Double time payment for Bank Holiday Hours.
* €7.80 allowance paid for Saturday shift.
* €70.70 per sleepover allowance paid.
