Post Summary: Trinity College Dublin seeks to appoint a Professor of Surgery/Academic Consultant Surgeon in the Department of Surgery at Tallaght University Hospital (TUH). This is a full-time appointment made in conjunction with TUH based at TUH. The Professor of Surgery will ordinarily be the Academic Head of Department in TUH and will be responsible for the academic curriculum and administration of the academic department. The Discipline of Surgery consists of teaching units in both major teaching hospitals Tallaght University Hospital and St. James’s Hospital. In order to ensure effective governance, the Headship of the Discipline rotates every three years between the heads of the respective Academic Departments. The Professor of Surgery as Head of the academic unit at TUH will sit on the Medical School executive and may from time to time undertake duties on the executive as requested by the Head of School within TUH.

Salary: This appointment will be made on the Consultant Contract 2023 – Academic, salary scale at a point in line with current Government pay Policy (and will be commensurate with experience). Salary Scales.
