Health and Safety Officer

Join our team as a Health and Safety Officer, where you'll play a pivotal role in fostering a health and safety culture across our work environment. Working closely with the EHS Manager, you will help ensure the safety and compliance of our operations while driving the achievement of business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Monitor work processes and procedures to identify unsafe practices or breach of safety regulations.
2. Build a safety management programme which meets the requirement and achieves certification of ISO45001.
3. Form part of the site operations team as EHS representative, collaborating and assisting the team across all operational tasks.
4. Conduct equipment inspections to ensure they are correctly installed and operational.
5. Facilitate and schedule repairs of unsafe or damaged equipment.
6. Organise and carry out safety training to educate company staff and contractors on necessary safety principles.
7. Develop and implement safety procedures and policies for production operations.
8. Carry out investigations to identify the root cause of an incident or other unsafe conditions on a work site.
9. Oversee the placement and setup of safety equipment such as PPE, firefighting equipment, safety signage, and any other relevant equipment to warn and mitigate all potential hazards.
10. Prepare and present to company management periodic reports of safety operations.
11. Collaborate with regulatory agencies and investigators to fully investigate cases of workplace incidents/accidents.
12. Conduct risk assessments to identify risks of operational hazards for all work areas on site.
13. Ensure all company operational processes comply with the relevant H&S legislation and that an up-to-date legislation management plan is in place.
14. Keep abreast of relevant occupational safety and health information with specific reference to the automotive sector.
15. Deliver to all stakeholders general advice and direction on all aspects of health and safety.
16. Deliver induction training for all new employees and external contractors in Health & Safety, COVID-19, and Manual Handling.
17. Effectively communicate and update all personnel on relevant topics relating to H&S.
18. Promote the company's objectives for a safe and incident-free workplace.
19. Conduct routine site audits and inspections, and report results to senior management.
20. Continually communicate with senior management.
Skills and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in occupational Health & Safety, engineering, safety management, or in a related discipline. Certification from recognized occupational health and safety body.
2. Ability to develop safe operational strategies and solutions to minimize workplace incidents.
3. Coordinate general workplace operations to ensure compliance with safety standards.
4. Provide company staff with useful safety information using clear language.
5. Minimum 2 years' Health & Safety experience.
6. Manufacturing experience desirable.
