A backend engineer at Peoplebox is someone who loves to look for patterns and is extremely resourceful. We’ve built modules that operate purely in Slack with one Backend Engineer.
You will face various challenges, from building a multi-source integration platform to working deeply in Kubernetes clusters. At the core, you should excel in system design, SQL, breaking down broad problems into smaller sub-problems, and building clarity.

We are looking for a self-driven Senior Backend Engineer who can join us and take ownership of their releases.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Typical Day: Your typical day will involve building data models and APIs consumed by Frontend engineers.
* Teamwork: Your success is directly proportional to how well you collaborate with your Frontend Partner. We expect you to be proactive and communicate effectively over Slack and calls.
* Problem Solving: You’ll tackle challenging problems in architecture and integrations that enable the business.
* Delivery: We value timely delivery. Speed sets us apart. You should be prepared to move fast and release.
* Self-Driven: We seek individuals who prefer to be self-managed and are proactive in their work.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
* 1-5 years of experience building backend applications.
* Experience with Ruby on Rails, Python frameworks, or Node frameworks.
* Strong problem-solving skills - ability to break down complicated problems into smaller, simpler components.
* Experience building applications from scratch, with a strong focus on system design.
* Excellent skills in SQL and databases.
* Bonus: Great product understanding - ability to brainstorm how certain features should be built for the product.
* Excitement about working in a fast-paced environment with high ownership in an early-stage setup.
