Position
Ayesa is seeking a Resident Engineer (RE) to work on a marine dredging project in the Ringaskiddy region for a period of 3 to 4 months commencing in Q3 2025. The candidate will be employed as a contractor or on a fixed-term contract for the duration of this project.
This role requires a high-calibre engineer with previous experience as an RE for marine and/or dredging projects in Ireland.
Key Accountabilities:
* To assist the Employers Representative, Project Manager and Employer in ensuring that the works are carried out in accordance with the Contract Documents.
* Supervise site activities to ensure that the required construction standards are delivered.
* Ensure the works, including testing and disposal of dredged material, are carried out in accordance with all permits and permissions.
* Ensure all relevant material testing is conducted to classify the material prior to disposal.
* Monitor, record and classify all dredged disposal volumes, drying time and treatment, if applicable.
* Monitor and record progress against the programme.
* Manage procedures and systems to ensure accurate record-keeping and effective claim management.
* Keep concise records, including a daily diary and photographs of site activities.
* Prepare clear and concise reports.
* Review and comments on contractor submissions.
* Prepare weekly reports.
* Oversee any site investigations and testing to ensure accuracy and prompt delivery of results to all parties.
* Communicate effectively with all relevant parties, including the Employer, Contractor, PSDP, PSCS, Harbour Master, Traffic Authority, and other stakeholders, as necessary.
Requirements
* Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering (level 7 in the National Framework of Qualifications) or equivalent professional qualification in engineering.
* Possess at least seven years of satisfactory experience in marine engineering work, including having worked as an RE on a minimum of two previous projects in the last seven years undertaking a similar role.
* The candidate must be based in Ireland and be willing to relocate at their own cost, if required. No visa or hotel expenses will be included.
* Possess a high standard of technical training and experience.
* Direct experience in delivering marine engineering projects. Preferably dredging projects in Ireland with landside disposal of dredged material.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and the Microsoft Suite, including Microsoft Project.
* Direct experience working in urban environments, including engagement with multiple stakeholders.
* Detailed experience of fulfilling duties required by the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations, 2013, including ensuring, on behalf of the Employer, that the duties of the PSCS, PSDP, Designer and Contractor are implemented across the project.
* Proven ability to successfully deliver marine engineering construction projects.
* Holders of the post shall hold a full current driver’s licence for Class B vehicles.
