Position Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled GC-MS Specialist with a strong background in flavour chemistry to join our team to support investigations and root cause analyses for beverages in the Coca-Cola portfolio. The ideal candidate will have experience operating GC-MS instruments, developing and optimizing analytical methods, and interpreting complex data. This role is critical in the provision of analytical support for root cause analyses of issues that may arise with our products in production and marketplace.
Key Responsibilities:
* Be autonomous and lead investigations at a high level of throughput and develop a work plan to ensure comprehensive analyses to determine root cause analyses. The incumbent will become a Subject Matter Expert in Flavour Chemistry.
* Operate and maintain Gas Chromatography instruments, including GC MS/ GC MSMS/ accurate mass GC-MS instruments to analyse flavour compounds.
* Develop and optimize analytical methods for the identification and quantification of flavour compounds.
* Prepare samples for GC analysis, ensuring accurate and reproducible results.
* Analyse and interpret complex GC-MS data, utilizing appropriate software and tools.
* Correlate gas chromatography data with sensory analysis, working closely with sensory panels to validate results.
* Implement quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of analytical data.
* Communicate technical information both verbally and in written reports which can be understood by technical and non-technical audiences at regional or global level.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sister labs, R&D, and Quality Assurance to support flavour chemistry projects.
* Stay up-to-date with advances in GC technology and flavour chemistry through continuous learning and professional development.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Science, or related field.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience operating GC-MS instruments, preferably in a flavour or food science context.
* Strong knowledge of flavour chemistry and experience analyzing flavour compounds using GC instrumentation.
* Proficient in data analysis and interpretation, with experience using relevant software (e.g., ChemStation, MassHunter, etc.).
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
