I am seeking an experienced and dynamic Engineering Director to join a leading organisation in FMCG. As the Engineering Director, you will be responsible for overseeing a team of engineers as well as on-site contractors, ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, equipment, and infrastructure. This is a critical role for the organisation, focused on driving engineering excellence, optimising operational efficiency, and ensuring the highest safety and quality standards across the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage a team of engineers and contractors, ensuring effective resource allocation, development, and performance management.
2. Oversee the maintenance, optimisation, and reliability of manufacturing systems, equipment, and infrastructure, ensuring that all operations run smoothly and efficiently.
3. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes, with a focus on maximising productivity, reducing downtime, and improving system reliability.
4. Develop and implement strategies for preventative maintenance and asset management to ensure minimal disruptions to operations.
5. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental regulations, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
6. Manage and prioritise capital projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
7. Collaborate closely with other departments such as Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure alignment and support for operational goals.
8. Develop and manage budgets for engineering operations, projects, and contractor activities, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
9. Lead technical troubleshooting efforts and provide leadership in solving complex engineering challenges.
10. Foster a high-performance culture within the engineering team, focusing on skills development, coaching, and mentorship.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field). A Master’s degree or equivalent qualification is a plus.
2. At least 10 years of experience in an engineering leadership role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food and beverage or related industry.
3. Proven experience managing and developing high-performing engineering teams, as well as working with contractors.
4. Strong knowledge of engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and equipment maintenance.
5. Demonstrated success in managing capital projects, process improvements, and cost-reduction initiatives.
6. In-depth understanding of safety, quality, and environmental standards and regulations within a manufacturing environment.
7. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
8. Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
9. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
