Position Summary:
The primary purpose of the Strategic NPI Manager position is to plan, coordinate and follow up all activities related to global new product introductions starting from Initiation (Make vs Buy / SCR decision) and ending with Closure (product launch completed & transition to routine replenishments).
The Strategic NPI Manager facilitates effective coordination across a variety of Zoetis teams and departments to ensure the supply chain fully supports the launch success, achieves best time to market post-approval & can support sustainable supply longer term. This will typically include working with multiple manufacturing locations, which can be both internal and external.
Position Responsibilities:
Initiation (supporting Make vs Buy / SCR preparation):
* Analyze sourcing options (logistics cost, supply chain complexity, etc.) and assess supply chain risks.
* Coordinating with Global Commercial Development & Network Strategy re: long term forecast assumptions (base / optimistic / pessimistic), presentations, cannibalization, etc.
* Facilitating cost/capacity/volume analysis, as needed.
* Develop project plan, in sync with EPM timelines, Co-Development milestones, capital project progress, etc., identifying critical path and managing to achieve soonest launch post-approval.
* Coordinating Master data set-up and flex routing.
* Forming launch team(s), facilitating NPI reviews and tracking progress to plan.
* Facilitating Launch strategy development (artwork prioritization, inventory/WIP planning, production at risk, AFW, alternate/back-up sourcing, air vs ocean) that minimize risk and optimize time to launch.
* Supporting regular review of forecast / inventory / capacity / supply chain cost.
* Conduct assessment of demand scenarios and supply risks, including issue identification and resolution.
* Preparing launch inventory strategy & safety stock targets aligned with Commercial, Demand Management & Supply Planning.
Execution (supporting launch preparation and execution):
* Provide monthly updates for S&OP plus periodic review with Senior Leaders.
* Develop launch plans in consultation with market teams, GCD and Commercial leadership.
* Assess opportunities for timeline acceleration / mitigation in line with regulatory approval developments.
* Plan API/ABI & FG requirements, including procurement of critical packaging components.
* Coordination of launch supply manufacturing and q-ship/release.
* Working with Global Transportation, Intercompany Supply and Market Logistics to expedite launch supply arrival in-market.
Closure (support of ramp-up, geo-expansion and transition to business as usual):
* Managing the resolution of issues across the supply chain.
* Establishing continuity of supply and handing over to PSPM for routine replenishment planning.
* Periodic demand review and sales monitoring.
* Preparing for new market launches / geo-expansion.
* Lessons Learned consolidation and recommendations.
Education, Skills and Experience:
* Graduate degree in engineering, scientific or health related field of study.
* Relevant advanced degree or training/certificate in supply chain or logistics preferred.
* > 10 years of experience supply chain management.
* 5 years in pharma/animal health industry.
* Experience in New Product Introduction and/or Lifecycle Management preferred.
Technical Skills:
* Good influencing skills.
* Basic knowledge of business processes including planning, capacity and supply planning, and life-cycle management and how they interconnect.
* Good written and oral communication skills including strong presentation skills.
* Ability to work independently, think creatively, manage multiple tasks and deliver results in a collaborative, fast paced environment.
* Detail oriented, organized, reliable, resourceful with a relentless focus on outcomes.
Physical requirements:
The preferred location for this role is Parsippany NJ (US) or Dublin (IRE). However, this position may be located at any GMS location within the US or EU.
