Senior Estimator (Relocate to Canada) Reporting to the Chief Estimator or Estimate Manager, the Senior Estimator leads complex project estimates, manages deadlines, and mentors junior team members.
They accurately determine project scopes, quantify costs, interpret tender documents, and collaborate with internal teams and trade partners.
With strong market knowledge and historical data insights, they develop strategies to secure work and compile conceptual estimates.
Duties: Estimating & Cost Analysis: Prepare and complete project estimates, including general conditions, labour, equipment, material costs, and subcontractor pricing.
Project Scope & Risk Management: Determine project scope, identify risks, and propose cost mitigation strategies while assessing opportunities for cost savings.
Scheduling & Productivity Assessment: Develop preliminary construction schedules and apply historically accurate labour and equipment productivities.
Subcontractor Coordination: Select, invite, and evaluate subcontractor bids, ensuring full scope coverage, and engage in post-award negotiations.
Leadership & Team Development: Lead and mentor estimating teams, oversee bid closings, delegate tasks, and ensure quality control in estimating processes.
Strategic & Competitive Analysis: Analyze design criteria, propose innovative strategies, and recommend cost-effective solutions to enhance bid competitiveness.
Stakeholder Communication & Risk Assessment: Conduct meetings, manage timelines, ensure compliance with bonding/insurance requirements, and collaborate with operational teams.
Requirements: Education & Certifications: 3rd level degree in relevant programme related to role.
Experience & Skills: 5+ years of field and estimating experience, with design-build and procurement method proficiency as assets; strong comprehension of tender documents, specifications, and contracts.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in software suites, MS Excel, scheduling software (Primavera preferred), quantification tools (OnScreen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Agtek), and BIM modeling.
Communication & Leadership: Strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and the ability to train and mentor estimators while fostering professional relationships.
