NEW ROLE: Business Support Specialist within pharmaceutical/chemical manufacturing Co Laois.
Location: Midlands – Co Laois, commutable from Offaly, Kildare, North Tipperary and surrounds.
CPL are working with our client partner to hire a Business Support Specialist for their GMP certified chemical production facility in Laois. The plant has been purpose built to support their client portfolio who are primarily in the Bio-Pharma, General Pharma and API manufacturing industries.
Due to increased business, they require a Business Support Specialist. This role combines key responsibilities of a Buyer and Customer Service Specialist. This role plays a central part in managing vendor relationships, supporting purchasing activities, and ensuring seamless communication across departments. With a strong focus on data accuracy, trend analysis, and customer service, the role contributes to the overall efficiency of the supply chain and supports strategic decision-making through business intelligence and reporting tools.
Role Responsibilities
1. Continuously update competitor knowledge within both off-price and full-price sectors to ensure the business is positioned as the premier off-price destination.
2. Maintain and develop the best position with vendors to ensure we are the exclusive or first point of contact for any off-price activity.
3. Maintain a high level of trend awareness for responsible departments and the market in general.
4. Feed ongoing ideas and strategies internally to all relevant teams, including Marketing, Upload and E-commerce, ensuring the buying function is up to date with all developments.
5. Assist departments with following purchasing procedures, as well as following up on their orders to ensure accuracy.
6. Create supporting spreadsheets and other related documentation as directed.
7. New Vendor & Customer Set-Up.
8. Conduct business user master file audits.
9. Analyze costing inputs/trends for each product category.
10. Manage seasonal order purchases and reorders, ensuring deliveries are received on schedule.
11. Ensure clear and timely vendor communication in a concise, accurate, and professional manner.
12. Process vendors' purchase orders and follow up to ensure on-time deliveries, correct pricing, terms, and specifications.
13. Handle special projects/research for the department.
14. Standardize and manage supply chain data to streamline operations from vendors.
15. Assist in the direct site's purchasing of materials and deliverables.
16. NLPE/NPI strategic actions.
17. Business Intelligence and Data Analysis.
18. Use Power BI and other business intelligence tools to create reports and dashboards for export operations.
19. Analyze export data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
20. Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track export performance and operational efficiency.
Requirements
1. Experience in procurement or a related field.
2. Certifications in dangerous goods handling (IATA, IMDG, and DOT) preferred.
3. Understanding of global supply chain dynamics and international market trends.
4. Experience with data analysis and creating data visualizations.
5. Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
6. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
7. Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
8. Strong negotiation skills.
