Job Overview
The Support Worker will work under the supervision of and be accountable to the Social Care Worker (SCW) and Social Care Leader (SCL) who are on shift. The role involves assisting in delivery of relevant parts of Daily Planners for each young person in the centre.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise young people, menu planning/cooking, general household upkeep, administrative and driving duties.
* Undertake Live Night duties, awakening Social Care staff when residents require assistance during the night.
* Encourage further education opportunities, leading to a relevant Social Care qualification.
Child-Centred Care and Support
* Attend and contribute to the Young People's House Meeting forum.
* Be familiar with the access to records process and reinforce young people's right to access such records.
* Ensure complaints are identified and recorded under guidance and support from the SCW/SCL.
* Facilitate young people availing of family access and record this.
Effective Care and Support
* Ensure an appropriate level of knowledge of referral information.
* Participate in admission/transition/orientation processes for young people received into the centre.
* Contribute to presenting needs of young people as they arise, directed by an SCW/SCL.
Health, Wellbeing and Development
* Contribute to the delivery of the centres menu planner/cooking meals while promoting healthy nutrition.
* Promote the importance of medical appointments with young people and facilitate these where appropriate.
* Ensure sufficient supply of medication for young people and that this is audited and securely stored.
Minimum Qualification
FETAC credit in Care Skills at Level 5 or QQI accredited Level 5 Early Learning & Care or QQI Level 5 Social Studies or Equivalent.
