Role Overview The Rehabilitation Specialist Healthcare Assistant will support the Physiotherapist in delivering high-quality rehabilitation and care services to residents in Cahercalla Community Hospital and Hospice, Ennis, Co. Clare. This includes assisting with therapy sessions, monitoring patient progress, and ensuring compliance with prescribed treatment plans. This is a permanent role for 39 hours per week. Core Responsibilities: Quality of Care: Provide respectful care to patients and collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) to support rehabilitation goals. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff. Patient Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and report any concerns or incidents. Assist in patient mobility, ensuring their safety. Team Collaboration: Work with the IDT, participate in care planning and meetings, and resolve conflicts positively. Professional Development: Maintain qualifications, complete training, and contribute to team knowledge and skills. Specific Duties: Communication and Relationships: Maintain confidentiality, treat everyone with respect, and report changes in patient condition. Respiratory Care: Assist with respiratory interventions as directed by nursing and therapy staff. Eating and Drinking: Support patients with feeding, monitor food intake, and encourage hydration. Intimate Care: Assist with toileting, personal care, and maintain dignity and infection control standards. Mobilising: Help patients with mobility, rehabilitation exercises, and use of appropriate equipment. Ward/Department Activities: Participate in group therapy, assist with non-clinical tasks, and maintain a safe and clean environment. Safety and Environment: Ensure a safe environment, follow health and safety protocols, and report incidents promptly. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and reviews to maintain competency. Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned by the line manager. Qualifications and Skills Required Experience working as a Health Care Assistant Be currently employed in the public health care system as a health care assistant without a Health Care Support at QQI L5 and will be willing to undertake the Health Care Support QQI L5 to include a Rehabilitation Module Demonstrates evidence of experience of working in a rehabilitation environment in a hospital setting Demonstrates evidence of experience of working with patients in a Health or Caring Service Minimum QQI Level 5 in a related field.
